Website Development
- What web development services does GISI Marketing Group offer?
We design and build professional websites for businesses of all sizes with a focus on sites that are genuinely useful to the organizations that run them and the customers they serve. Our core offering is websites built within a Content Management System (CMS) framework that give clients full control over their content without technical expertise. We also build e-commerce websites for clients selling products or services online. Beyond initial builds, we offer redesigns, landing page development, ongoing maintenance and support, and web-to-print portals integrated with our print fulfillment services. Every site we produce is built with both user experience and search visibility in mind.
- What makes GISI Marketing Group different from a standalone web agency?
Most web agencies build your site and hand it off. We build websites in the context of a broader marketing and production relationship which means your site, your print materials, your direct mail, and your signage are all developed by a team that understands how they work together. Brand consistency across channels, coordinated campaign timing, and a single accountable partner for your full marketing execution: these aren't things a standalone web shop can offer. For marketing-driven organizations, that integration creates real, ongoing value.
- Do I need a new website, or can you improve my existing one?
Both are well within our scope. If your site is functional but outdated in design, underperforming in search, slow to load, or no longer reflects your brand, a redesign on your current platform or a migration to a better CMS may be the right move. If your site has fundamental structural problems, such as poor mobile experience, no content management capability, or a platform that's difficult to maintain, then a fresh build often makes more long-term sense than fixing a broken foundation. We'll assess your current site and give you an honest recommendation before proposing anything.
- Can GISI Marketing Group handle both the design and development of my website?
Yes, we manage the full project from visual design through technical build and launch. Our team handles information architecture, visual design, CMS configuration, content entry, third-party integrations, and pre-launch quality assurance. You don't need to coordinate a separate designer and developer. For clients with in-house design teams who want to supply their own designs, we can facilitate development and build only. We're flexible to whatever the project requires and we'll tell you honestly when a different approach would serve you better.
- How does the web development process work from start to finish?
A typical project follows these phases:
- Discovery: we learn your business, goals, audience, and current site
- Sitemap and architecture: we define page structure and content hierarchy
- Design: we develop visual mockups of key pages for review and approval
- Development: we build in your CMS, configure functionality, enter content
- Review and QA: you review the staging site, we test across devices and browsers
- Launch: we push live and confirm everything is working
- Handoff: we train you on CMS use and document the site
Timeline and phases scale with complexity. You'll always know where the project stands.
CMS Websites
- What is a CMS website and why does it matter?
A CMS (Content Management System) separates your website's text, images, pages, and posts from the underlying code. That means you can add a page, update your team listing, publish a news post, or change a phone number without touching code or calling a developer. For most organizations, a CMS website is the right foundation because it keeps you in control of your own content and removes long-term dependency on technical support for routine updates. We build CMS websites that are genuinely easy for non-technical staff to maintain.
- What CMS platforms does GISI Marketing Group build on?
We build primarily on WordPress, the world's most widely used CMS, powering over 40% of all websites. WordPress is our standard recommendation for most business sites because of its maturity, flexibility, strong SEO capabilities, and the fact that virtually any future developer can work with it. For specific requirements, such as headless architectures, enterprise content management, or strong client platform preferences, we evaluate alternatives on a case-by-case basis. Whatever platform we recommend, we'll explain why it's the right fit for your goals.
- Will I be able to update my own website after it is built?
Yes. This is a non-negotiable goal of every CMS site we build. Routine updates, editing page text, swapping images, adding blog posts, updating staff listings, changing contact information, are configured to be straightforward for a non-technical user. We can provide a training session at handoff so your team is comfortable with the platform. For more complex updates, new functionality, structural navigation changes, significant design modifications, our team is available for ongoing support. You'll never be left with a site you can't manage.
- Do you use web design templates or build custom designs?
We offer both, depending on your needs and budget. For clients who need a professional, on-brand website efficiently, we work with premium CMS themes customized to your brand colors, typography, imagery, and layout, adjusted so the result reflects your brand, not a default template. For clients who need a fully unique design with no structural constraints, we design and build from the ground up. Custom builds take longer and cost more yet produce a site with no inherited limitations. We'll recommend the right approach for your goals and budget during discovery.
- What pages does a typical business website include?
A standard business site typically includes: Home, About (company story, team, values), Services or Products, Portfolio or Work Samples, Testimonials or Case Studies, Blog or News, and Contact (with form, map, phone, and email), plus any industry-specific pages relevant to your business. We develop a recommended sitemap during discovery based on your goals and content. Pages can be added at any time after launch. The CMS makes expansion straightforward as your business evolves.
- Can you migrate content from my existing website to the new one?
Yes. Content migration of existing pages, blog posts, images, and documents is included in scope when required. For smaller sites (under 20 pages), we migrate and reformat content manually to ensure quality. For larger sites, we use migration tools supplemented by manual review. We assess content volume during discovery and include migration effort in the project estimate. The migration process is also a natural opportunity to audit what's worth carrying forward, which we will help identify.
- Will my website be mobile-friendly?
Yes. Every site we build is fully responsive, adapting automatically to display correctly on desktop, tablet, and mobile. This is standard practice, not an optional add-on. Google uses mobile performance as a primary ranking signal, and most web traffic across all industries now comes from mobile devices. We test across a range of screen sizes and devices before launch. The mobile experience always meets the same standard as the desktop version.
E-commerce Websites
- What e-commerce website services does GISI Marketing Group offer?
We design and build e-commerce websites for businesses selling physical products, digital downloads, or services online. Our builds include full storefront design, product catalog setup, guidance for payment gateway, shipping, and tax configuration, all on proven platforms that are scalable, secure, and manageable by non-technical staff. Whether you're launching a new store or migrating from an existing platform, we manage the full project from first conversation to launch day.
- What e-commerce platforms do you build on?
We build primarily on BigCommerce and WooCommerce WordPress-native e-commerce, depending on client needs. BigCommerce provides native, advanced B2B and B2C capabilities out-of-the-box without forcing businesses to rely heavily on expensive, site-slowing third-party applications. For scaling enterprises managing multi-location inventory, complex sales tax rules, and diverse client pricing tiers, BigCommerce offers superior API stability and robust native SEO architecture and marketing features built-in to compete in market spaces. WooCommerce is recommended for established WordPress sites that sell a few products and limited shipping/payment options.
- Can you set up an online store for B2B sales with custom pricing?
BigCommerce is widely recognized as an industry leader for enterprise B2B and custom configurations. Custom pricing capabilities are built into the BigCommerce platform and differ depending on your needs and the chosen BigCommerce service plan. Furthermore, the platform integrates with popular ERPs, CRMs, fulfillment platforms, and localized supply chain software. This allows for automation of complex operational logistics including real-time inventory synchronization, custom dealer tier pricing, bulk purchasing tools, and automated tax calculations for B2B distributions.
- How do you handle product catalog setup for a new store?
For new stores with a defined catalog, we set up the product structure — categories, attributes, variants, pricing, SKUs, and inventory — and enter an agreed number of products as part of the initial build. For large catalogs (hundreds or thousands of products), we configure the system and import via structured data files (CSV or feed import) rather than manual entry. You provide product data in a standardized format; we handle the import, review, and configuration. Ongoing product additions after launch are easily managed by your team through the CMS.
- Can you integrate my e-commerce site with my inventory or fulfillment system?
Common integrations include connecting your store to a warehouse management system so stock levels update automatically as orders are placed, integrating with shipping platforms (like ShipStation) to automate label generation and tracking, and syncing orders with accounting software like QuickBooks. Integration complexity varies — some use native connectors, others require custom API work. We'll assess your existing systems during discovery and scope integration requirements in the project estimate.
SEO, Performance, & Security
- Do the websites you build perform well in search engines?
Yes, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices are built into every site we produce. Proposals can include semantic HTML structure, optimized page titles and meta descriptions, clean URL structure, image alt text, schema markup where appropriate, XML sitemap, robots.txt configuration, and Google Analytics and Search Console integration. Page load speed is a direct Google ranking factor and optimized through image compression, caching, and performance tuning. We build the technical SEO foundation; content strategy and ongoing performance management can be provided as well.
- How do you ensure my website loads quickly?
Page speed is a core requirement. Every site we build includes compressed images, lazy loading for below-the-fold content, browser caching, minified CSS and JavaScript, CDN delivery for static assets, and hosting suited to your traffic volume. Before launch, we test performance and resolve any major issues. A faster site improves user experience and search visibility.
- How do you handle website security?
Security is built in from the start: SSL installation (HTTPS), regular software and plugin updates, strong admin password policies, login protection and two-factor authentication where supported, database hardening, and malware scanning. For e-commerce sites, PCI compliance is assured through the SaaS host (BigCommerce) and secure payment gateways (card data never touches your server with Stripe or PayPal). We recommend ongoing managed hosting with automated backups and security monitoring for all sites after launch, the most reliable way to protect what we've built together.
- What hosting do you recommend and do you manage it?
We recommend managed WordPress hosting with optimized server environments, automatic backups, staging environments. For BigCommerce sites, hosting is included in the BigCommerce subscription. We can manage hosting setup and ongoing administration as part of a maintenance agreement, or transfer management to your team if preferred. You own your hosting account. We don't lock clients into proprietary arrangements.
Maintenance, Support & Ongoing Services
- Do you offer ongoing website maintenance after launch?
Yes. Our monthly maintenance agreements include CMS core, theme, and plugin updates; regular backups; security scanning; and a defined number of content update hours per month. A maintained website is a secure, reliable website. Outdated CMS software is the most common entry point for hacks and malware. We strongly recommend a maintenance agreement for every site we build. It's a small ongoing investment that protects a much larger one.
- What happens if my website goes down or has a technical problem?
We provide support on a time-and-materials basis. Contact us and we'll address the issue quickly. For critical issues such as a site completely down, or e-commerce not processing orders, we prioritize response regardless of plan status.
- Can you add new features or pages to my site after launch?
Post-launch work is handled on a project or hourly basis. Simple additions (a new service page, a form update, an additional team member) are quick and affordable. Larger additions (an e-commerce section, a membership portal, a booking system) are scoped and quoted as small projects. If you anticipate significant future development, mention it during the initial build so we can proactively plan accordingly.
- Can you connect my website to my CRM, email marketing platform, or other business tools?
Yes, in many cases, we can integrate the most popular marketing, analytics, and performance monitoring applications with WordPress or BigCommerce. If there is not one readily available, we can help you find the right solution to fit your business needs.
